Louie Barry twist as Hull City transfer set to collapse with £3.5m deal agreed

Louie Barry could be set to remain at Aston Villa despite agreeing a deal with Hull City.

The Englishman spent the second half of last season with the Tigers but made just four appearances before picking up an injury.

It appears that the Championship outfit saw enough in the 22-year-old to make the deal permanent in a move that looks set to be welcomed at Villa Park.

Now it appears that a move has been scuppered at the final hour, with an agreement looking set to fall through for the forward.

Barry deal to Hull City could be off

In what would prove to be a positive deal for all parties, it will certainly be a blow if the planned transfer goes back to the drawing board.

This is especially the case for the former Barcelona youngster who had such an excellent spell on loan at Stockport County before being recalled.

Netting 16 goals across just 24 goals was enough to catch the eye of the second tier, although things never truly worked out at the MKM Stadium.

The Villans were clearly hopeful of a permanent switch still going through as NSWE compete with PSR troubles ahead of the new season.

As a result, the prospect of a £3.5million sale would have been music to the ears of the claret and blue outfit moving into July.

The Villa bosses are now learning of the potential of a failed deal, as Jacob Tanswell reported (1 July) that a deal was in doubt due to affordability concerns at Hull City.

This comes despite the Tigers reaching an agreement with Barry over his wage package as well as a fee with Villa, including a 50 per cent sell-on clause.

With that in mind, a move elsewhere could be on the cards for the Englishman who is seemingly still on his way out of B6 this summer.

Aston Villa to find new destination for Barry

It is clear that the former West Brom academy gem has talent that could make him a useful asset for a number of sides right now.

There is also plenty of potential there, which could make him a Premier League regular in the future, something which Villa may not be able to wait around for.

Cameron Archer faced a similar fate and now finds himself back in the Championship with Southampton after back-to-back relegations with two different clubs.

With that being said, a sale makes total sense for Villa, and they will be keen to find a new suitor if Hull can’t live up to their side of the bargain for Barry.
