Bayern Munich want to sign Rashford after Aston Villa announcement

Marcus Rashford has become one of the biggest names on the transfer market following his loan stint at Aston Villa.

Rashford, 27, impressed in his short spell at Villa Park, providing nine goal involvements in 17 appearances in all competitions.

A hamstring injury cut Rashford’s loan spell short in April after a late 2-1 defeat at Manchester City, ruling him out of Villa’s final four league games and the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Crystal Palace.

Rashford has drawn up major interest as the England international looks set to leave Manchester United permanently this summer.

Villa confirm Rashford exit with farewell announcement

The England international’s departure from Villa Park after his loan spell has been confirmed by Unai Emery‘s side.

Villa announced via their website that Rashford, Marco Asensio, and Axel Disasi have returned to their parent clubs following their loan spells.

The Villans had the option to trigger a £40million buy option in Rashford’s loan agreement, but have seemingly opted against triggering the clause.

According to Bild via the Mirror (1 July), Bayern Munich have included Rashford on their transfer wishlist for the summer.

Bayern, however, don’t see the United man as a priority option, favouring moves for Nico Williams, Luis Diaz and Bradley Barcola, Bild reports.

Villa can invest in younger talent to replace Rashford

Although Rashford was excellent in spells for Villa, he isn’t a great option long-term in Birmingham.

The Englishman turns 28 in October, while also currently earning over £300,000-a-week at Old Trafford.

If Villa pay Rashford those wages, and he reverts to his form before his loan move to Villa Park, it would be catastrophic financially.

The Midlands side have attempted to avoid any PSR punishment by selling their women’s team, so they must move on to more financially viable targets.

The signing of young forward Zepiqueno Redmond has been confirmed, while Villa are also looking at Harvey Elliott and Alejandro Garnacho, who will command wages much less than Rashford’s.
