Aston Villa fans brace for imminent announcement after cryptic Collymore message
Aston Villa fans could be forgiven for feeling nervous.
It has been rumoured that their club need to sell a big player before 1 July to ensure they comply with Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).
Emi Martinez and Morgan Rogers are among the players that could be sold, according to recent reports, although there is no sign of a confirmed transfer yet.

Aston Villa fans get nervy after cryptic Collymore social media post
Villa fans have been scouring social media for news about who could leave Villa Park before the 1 July PSR deadline, and the rumours appear to have left many of them on edge.
On Monday (30 June), former Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore posted an innocuous photo of an Aston Villa corner flag on X. No caption was included.
Collymore is a Villa fan, and this could easily be a meaningless gesture to show his continued support for the club.
However, several fans replied to the post asking if it meant that he knew about something happening behind the scenes, as this is often the image the club posts alongside a statement or announcement.
Know something Stanley 😉??

Collymore is yet to engage with any of these comments, instead allowing his followers to continue wondering what secrets he knows.
Villa fans will be hoping to move forward in July and August
If Villa fall foul of PSR, they could face a Premier League points deduction going into the 2025-26 season.
That would be a disastrous setback as the Villains aim to regain their place in the Champions League, and it’s fitting that the club would be doing everything they can to avoid this.
However, once 1 July rolls around, there will be nothing they can do to change their fate.
So, Villa fans will hope that the club can begin to focus on signing new players rather than trying to push their biggest stars through the exit door.
Player | Status |
Marcus Rashford | returned to Man United |
Marco Asensio | returned to PSG |
Axel Disasi | returned to Chelsea |
Unai Emery relied heavily on loan signings at the back end of last season, particularly in attacking positions, but these players have all returned to their parent clubs.
The Spaniard will surely be desperate to recruit some strikers and wingers before the Premier League season begins on 16 August.
