‘Aston Villa in talks to sell Kosta Nedeljkovic’ as PSR deadline looms

Kosta Nedeljkovic has struggled to break into the Aston Villa first team since his move to Birmingham.

The Serb arrived at Villa Park last summer but only made 10 appearances in all competitions before he was quickly loaned out to RB Leipzig.

The 19-year-old is believed to have plenty of potential despite his struggles in England and is now a regular for his country.

Nevertheless, the right-back could be moved on this summer to help Unai Emery raise more funds.

Nedeljkovic wanted by RB Leipzig

In Germany, the Aston Villa man was a regular at RB Leipzig. The right-back started in eight out of a possible 14 matches in the Bundlesgia as the club just missed out on European football.

However, this fact has not stopped the German side from showing interest in the defender.

Earlier this year, it was reported that RB Leipzig wanted to sign Nedeljkovic on a permanent basis.

Now, it has been claimed via the Mail on Sunday, page 89 (29 June), that Villa are in talks with the German side about the potential sale of the Serb.

This comes about amid Villa’s impending PSR deadline, with Emery seeking to sell players in order to avoid potential sanctions.

Nedeljkovic sale could haunt Villa in the future

While Nedeljkovic did not enjoy a successful first six months in England, there is no reason why he will not reach his potential.

At 19 years old, he is already doing better than many young players in his position, with the right-back proving to be a capable Bundesliga star despite his age.

If Villa do go through with the sale, it could come back to haunt Emery if he continues to perform in Germany.

While sales are no doubt needed with PSR concerns dominating Villa’s transfer business, Monchi should not look to rid the Birmingham outfit of their best upcoming stars.
