Jesus Rodriguez ‘bid set as Emery reveals all to Monchi’ at Aston Villa

Jesus Rodriguez has been linked to Aston Villa for many weeks.

The 19-year-old had an impressive breakout season at Real Betis as he showcased his potential.

As a result, Rodriguez is a wanted man, with Villa aiming to lure the winger to the Premier League.

However, Unai Emery faces competition for his signature, with multiple teams across Europe also looking to make a move this summer.

Real Betis ‘expect’ bids for Jesus Rodriguez

Aston Villa have been linked to multiple attackers this summer as Emery looks to strengthen his options.

Villa have shown interest in Alejandro Garnacho after the Argentine became an outcast in the Manchester United squad.

However, Emery is also considering a bid for Rodriguez, who has a £29.1 million release clause.

Now, according to Diario ABC (22 June), Real Betis are expecting a bid for the winger in the coming weeks.

Italian side Como and RB Leipzig are in the race, as well as Napoli and Chelsea, with Emery telling Monchi that Rodriguez would be “a great investment for the future”.

With his release clause set at £29.1m, Betis expect an offer close to this amount plus a percentage of a future sale clause.

Now that Spain’s Under-21s have been eliminated from the European Championships, talks can begin over the youngster’s future.

Aston Villa cannot afford to purchase upcoming stars this window

Given Villa’s PSR concerns, Emery simply cannot afford to spend around £30m on an untested youngster.

It is clear that the Birmingham outfit are under financial restrictions this summer that will reduce their spending.

Therefore, spending a decent sum on a 19-year-old who has only had one year at the top level would be reckless at this moment.

There is no evidence that Rodriguez is ready to start regularly in the Premier League, and this could cost Villa a Champions League spot next season.

Hopefully, Villa will avoid signing the Betis star and focus on more important targets.
