‘Morgan Rogers set for long-term Aston Villa stay’ amid Chelsea transfer update

Morgan Rogers could be set for a lengthy spell at Aston Villa.

The England international has been nothing short of superb since coming in as a surprise signing from Middlesbrough in January 2024.

After watching him play against Villa at the Riverside, Unai Emery opted to make the signing, which has turned out to be inspired.

As a result, it is little surprise that Chelsea have shown an interest in the 22-year-old, but he could still remain in B6 for the foreseeable.

Rogers to stay at Aston Villa amid Chelsea interest

After coming in from the Championship, not many fans would have expected the attacking midfielder to contribute to over 25 goals in his first full campaign.

That was exactly what the Englishman did as he and Youri Tielemans caught the eye as the Villans’ better players in the past 12 months.

This has sparked interest from several top clubs, especially after Villa missed out on Champions League football on the final day.

Having scored a hat-trick in the Champions League, plus another goal and two assists, there is every chance he wants to prove himself at the highest level once again.

That could see a move to Chelsea to link up with Cole Palmer work for Rogers, although former Brentford manager Martin Allen can’t see Villa letting him go.

It’s a maybe right now,” Allen exclusively told Villa News.

Would Villa want to get rid of a young player like that who’s a mobile, athletic, skilful and talented player? I’m not sure that they would.

You can see Rogers being at Villa for the next six or seven years and being an integral part of a club that is on the way up.

You could say the same about Chelsea, they’re young and hungry.

There’s no doubt that their squad is coming together, and they are going to be a force.

Aston Villa must keep Rogers

It is fair to say that Enzo Maresca’s side would have to fork out a crazy fee to even come close to landing the ex-Manchester City youngster this summer.

Given that Villa brought in £100million for Jack Grealish, there is every chance that four years later, Rogers could be worth even more.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the Villans navigate this deal, especially with attacking options like Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio departed B6 at the end of their loan deals.

Everyone associated with the claret and blue outfit will certainly be hoping to see Rogers line up for the opening day against Newcastle United.
