Aston Villa’s Amadou Onana reacts as Manchester United deal agreed

Aston Villa’s summer transfer business is expected to be heavily dictated to by their current PSR standing.

Several Premier League clubs are thought to be at serious risk of breaching the league’s restrictions, but Villa have been singled out as the club that faces the most danger.

If the Villans want to supply Unai Emery with the fresh additions that could be crucial to securing Champions League qualification next year, then they will have to be particularly shrewd with their business.

However, that could also mean making ruthless decisions on some of the members of their current squad.

Amadou Onana reacts to Matheus Cunha deal

Amadou Onana may be one of those players who Villa could reluctantly opt to sell.

The midfielder was an integral part of Emery’s plans last season and at 23, still has ample room for continued progress at Villa Park.

He only made the switch to the B6 outfit last summer, but with reported interest from Saudi Arabia, the Villans may decide to cash in on the star.

It remains to be seen where Onana’s future may lie, but for now, the Villa star has been busy passing opinion on a transfer deal elsewhere in the Premier League.

Manchester United finally announced the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves on Thursday (12 June), and Onana responded by liking the post on Instagram.

United’s captain Harry Maguire commented “Welcome mate” on the post, while Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco responded with three clapping emojis.

Villa should look to maximise the Saudi interest in Onana

Saudi Arabian clubs have rapidly gained a reputation for being somewhat reckless with their money in recent years, and Villa should be looking to make the most of that with their dealings on Onana.

They won’t really want to lose Onana after some impressive performances, but if a big-money bid did come in from the middle east, then it could make sense for them to cash in.

The Belgian international moved to Villa Park for £50million, but if he could be sold for a significant profit, that could go a long way towards alleviating some of Villa’s PSR concerns.

He has become an important member of the Villa squad, but he could be the one star who is sacrificed to fund several new additions elsewhere.
