‘Aston Villa set for Alex Moreno swap deal agreement’ as talks begin
Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno could soon complete a return to Real Betis.
The Spaniard spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side secured shock Conference League qualification.
This saw the 32-year-old play a role in the Reds’ squad throughout the season, with a return to Villa Park on the cards at the end of his temporary spell.
Now, a move to link up with former side Real Betis could be edging closer to completion, with a swap deal potentially in the pipeline in B6.

Real Betis to agree Moreno swap deal at Aston Villa
In the Villa squad, it is fair to say that the left-back position arguably has the best quality in depth with Lucas Digne and Ian Maatsen.
As a result, the return of the Forest loanee could cause problems rather than positivity, as the balance of the squad could be thrown off.
Stat (Premier League 24/25) | Alex Moreno | Lucas Digne | Ian Maatsen |
Appearances | 15 | 32 | 29 |
Goal involvements | 1 | 4 | 3 |
Tackles won | 18 | 38 | 17 |
Duels won | 42 | 127 | 61 |
With that being said, a sale for the Spanish full-back could make perfect sense as the summer window looms in the West Midlands.
This has already seen Leeds United showcase an interest in Moreno alongside Real Betis, with the latter potentially set to agree a player plus cash swap deal.
This comes after Fabrizio Romano reported (13 June) that Villa have begun talks with the LaLiga side over a move for winger Jesus Rodriguez.
The 19-year-old is said to be on the shortlist of many top sides, but the B6 club have already made contact to begin early transfer talks.
This could allow Monchi to utilise their desire to sign Moreno in their mission to bring the Spain under-21 international to the Premier League this summer.

Aston Villa in talks with Real Betis for Rodriguez transfer
Something that Villa have been desperate for in recent years is pace and speed on the break, a characteristic that has been rare at Villa Park.
There was a element of this in the winter transfer window as Marcus Rashford and Donyell Malen completed a move to Aston Villa.
With the England international moving on at the end of his loan, Rodriguez could come in from Real Betis as an alternative, and as one for the future.
If a deal can be agreed with Moreno going in the other direction, it feels fair to say that this would represent a largely risk free signing for Unai Emery and Co.
