‘Aston Villa edge close to Jack Grealish return’ as Man City make official announcement
Jack Grealish could end months of speculation at Manchester City by joining Aston Villa this summer.
The England international has been at the centre of discussion at the Etihad after falling down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.
As a result, exit links around the 29-year-old have been in plentiful supply, with a move back to Villa Park emerging as a possibility.
The latest update could see Unai Emery push towards a deal for Grealish, with a statement from the Citizens only adding fuel to the transfer fire.

Grealish set for Aston Villa return
It is fair to say that there is a generally mixed feeling around the former skipper in B6 after departing for £100million in 2021.
The jeers and boos were loud for all to hear as the Villans secured a win against the Englishman and Guardiola back in December.
As a result, questions have been raised over whether a return would be on the cards, but as time passes at City, a move back to the Midlands feels increasingly likely.
This has only grown in likelihood after Grealish was left out of the Citizens’ squad for the Club World Cup, as the list was submitted to FIFA ahead of the summer tournament.
The Villa academy graduate was absent from the announcement at the Etihad, in a development which is bound to pique the Villans’ interest.
Given that the services of the number 10 clearly aren’t wanted in M11, the claret and blue outfit could step up their interest to complete a summer transfer.
Aston Villa to make the most of Grealish snub at Manchester City
Everyone associated with Villa Park knows exactly the sort of talent that the attacking midfielder can provide when he’s on top form.
This was on show throughout the Championship promotion season and the subsequent two Premier League campaigns in B6.

As a result, it was little surprise that Guardiola came knocking, but after winning the treble, things have only gone downhill for Grealish.
Now the chance is on the table for the Englishman to link up again with the likes of John McGinn, Ollie Watkins and Tyrone Mings under the tutelage of Emery.
This may be controversial to some, but if the Spaniard can get the best out of the former skipper, it could prove to be one of the stories of the season.
