Morgan Rogers reacts to shock manager exit – ‘All the best, gaffer’

Aston Villa fans have seen many shock exits at Villa Park in recent years.

Jhon Duran’s departure to Al-Nassr FC came as a surprise in January after the striker hit such a good run of form.

Morgan Rogers could be set to join the Colombian in leaving the Birmingham outfit. Rogers has been linked to Chelsea in recent weeks after Unai Emery’s failure to secure Champions League football.

In the meantime, the winger has reacted to shock news elsewhere, as another sacking has taken place in the English pyramid.

Rogers wishes Michael Carrick well after Middlesbrough sacking

Before he joined Aston Villa, Rogers was a star at Championship side Middlesbrough.

Boro was where the winger had his first career breakthrough as he became a sensation at the Riverside Stadium.

The 22-year-old’s goals helped Middlesbrough reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals under the leadership of Michael Carrick.

However, shocking news broke on Wednesday when it was announced that the former Manchester United star had been sacked as the manager of Middlesbrough.

With Rogers still having fond memories of his time in the second tier, he wished his former manager well.

On Instagram (4 June), he posted an image of himself and Carrick on his story with the caption: “What a guy, all the best gaffer.”

Aston Villa should look to sign more players from the Championship

Rogers has easily been one of the best signings in Aston Villa’s history.

The winger was sensational this season and was arguably Villa’s best player.

With the 22-year-old coming from the second-tier just over a year ago, Emery should look to sign from this market again this summer.

It is clear that there are bargains in the Championship, with Rogers only costing the Birmingham outfit an initial £8 million, which could rise to £15 million.

Villa are set to struggle with PSR again this summer. Therefore, the Championship could be an ideal market for Emery to target.
