Sky Sports share new Marco Asensio to Aston Villa transfer update
Aston Villa fans are waiting expectantly for updates on new signings now that the summer transfer window has opened.
There has been a lot of speculation about whether Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio will move to Villa Park on a permanent basis, following excellent performances during their loan spells this season.
Those hopes appear to have taken a hit, though, as Unai Emery puts plans in place.

Asensio to Aston Villa transfer now less likely
Sky Sports has reported on its live blog (2 June, 08:15) that Aston Villa are in the market for new forwards.
However, it was suggested that efforts to sign Asensio or Rashford have taken a backwards step.
This could be because Villa’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League will leave them with less to spend during the transfer window.
Rashford has already been linked with a string of Champions League clubs, but hopes were high that Asensio would still sign at Villa Park.
Now, it seems Villa may have to look elsewhere for new attacking players, with a move for the Spaniard said to be “more unlikely”.
They’re set to complete the signing of 18-year-old Feyenoord striker Zepiqueno Redmond, but more recruits will be needed.

Failure to reach Champions League will hurt Aston Villa
The impact of not qualifying for the Champions League is beginning to dawn on Aston Villa fans.
Deep down, they may have known that this would likely ruin their plans to sign Rashford and Asensio.
Now they are watching their worst fears unfold.

Asensio doesn’t appear to have much of a future at Paris Saint-Germain, and there haven’t been any bids from other clubs yet, so he may still land at Villa Park.
Supporters will retain hope until the day that he’s unveiled at another club, but Villa would be smart to start making back-up plans.
Thankfully, in Emery, they have a manager with a history of making astute purchases in the market.
The Villa hierarchy did a great job of attracting Rashford and Asensio in January, and they should be trusted to bring in suitable replacements if these two don’t want to sign permanently.
