Emery set to accept £16m+ Emi Buendia bid with Aston Villa exit now close
Aston Villa look set for a busy summer transfer window, with the exit of many players on the cards.
Despite narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification in a controversial final game against Manchester United, this season was another successful one for Unami Emry.
The summer transfer window is already shaping up to be busy for Villa, with Emery keen to strengthen his squad for their Europa League campaign and to push for a top Premier League finish.
PSR has already cast a shadow over Villa’s transfers, with financial issues set to push the sale of key players.
Emiliano Martinez has already waved goodbye to Villa Park, with bids for Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers also set to be considered.

Aston Villa set to consider £16.8million bid for Emiliano Buendia
The sale of players looks to be essential for Emery’s side to comply with financial regulations, and could push a transfer for Emiliano Buendia.
The Argentine joined in 2021 from Norwich City for around £38million, setting Aston Villa’s record signing at the time.
The 28-year-old has spent the last five months on loan at Bayer Leverkusen and is now set to make his exit from Villa Park permanent.
French journalist Sebastein Vidal issued an update on X (30 May) that Buendia could reunite with Daniel Farke at Leeds United.
The newly promoted side are expected to offer a bid of around £16.8million, with Farke keen to revive the magic of their Norwich days.
Emery has reportedly given his blessing on the move after Buendia has struggled to break into the starting eleven this season.
Buendia has been unlucky in the last few seasons, after sustaining an ACL injury in August 2023 which kept him out for eleven months.
Despite impressing Emery in pre-season last summer, the Argentinian fell in the pecking order this season.
Aston Villa could benefit from Buendia sale
Buendia’s stay at Villa Park is likely to end after two unsuccessful seasons.
While Aston Villa will not have a full return of the transfer fee paid for the Argentinian, his exit could help build of space for new midfield options.

Emery’s side has been linked with young and cheap talent to join the midfield.
Villa are already favourites to sign Norwegian midfielder Sverre Nypan, despite Arsenal following the 18-year-old closely.
Interest has also been expressed in Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra, who is branded one of Ligue 1’s best midfielders.
The exit of Buendia could allow space for new young talent to join the Villans and break through to help Emery in next season’s campaign, whilst giving Buendia an opportunity for a fresh start after a difficult couple of years.
