Aston Villa set for multi-million-pound boost amid growing PSR fears

Aston Villa could once again watch PSR dominate their summer transfer window as they look to prepare their squad for European football.

With the transfer window just days from opening, Villa could be in a tricky spot when it comes to signings.

Reports suggest that Villa are set for another PSR blow after their failure to qualify for the Champions League on the final day.

This has resulted in sales being mooted, with Ollie Watkins’ departure being considered to raise funds.

However, the Birmingham outfit is now set to earn a multi-million-pound boost which will ease their financial pressures.

Aston Villa set to receive an extra £5.5 million in broadcast fees

Due to Aston Villa’s rise under Unai Emery, the Birmingham outfit now see themselves on TV far more.

According to the Liverpool Echo (28 May), Villa were broadcast live 26 times this Premier League campaign, the fourth most in the division.

This is an increase of four matches compared to the 2023/24 campaign, which is set to bring in an extra £5.5million into the West Midlands club.

This is due to clubs receiving an extra £839,000 sum for each game that is screened live by either Sky Sports, TNT Sports or Amazon.

Emery deserves credit for the money he is bringing in

While Emery’s management of the team is highly praised, one thing that goes under the radar about his success is the money he brings in.

Without the Spaniard being at Villa Park, the Birmingham outfit are unlikely to be on TV as much as he makes the West Midlands club play an attractive and competitive style of football in every match.

This obviously makes many neutrals tune in, which in turn makes broadcasters select Villa more often.

Hopefully, this can continue into the 2025/26 campaign to once again help with Villa’s ongoing financial struggles, with NSWE welcoming the news with open arms, no doubt.
