Chelsea to test Rogers’ Aston Villa loyalty after developments over weekend

Aston Villa suffered a massive blow to their summer ambitions on the weekend after they failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Unai Emery’s side lost to Manchester United 2-0 on the final gameday of the Premier League to condemn the Birmingham outfit to sixth place and the Europa League

This occurred in controversial fashion as the referee blew his whistle to disallow a Morgan Rogers goal before it had crossed the line. As a result, VAR could not overturn his decision.

Now, Thomas Bramall’s error is set to have huge ramifications for Villa in the transfer window.

Chelsea ready to ‘splash the cash’ on Rogers

As a result of Aston Villa’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, numerous stars could leave Villa Park.

Now, in the aftermath of the result, Rogers has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

According to GIVEMESPORT (26 May), the London club are adamant that recruiting the attacker has become more plausible after their failure to get into the top five.

A fee of £90million is believed to be enough to secure Rogers, and Chelsea want to quickly discover if they can convince the England international to join the club before they make a proposal.

Aston Villa should consider Rogers sale for the right price

As good as Rogers has been for Villa this season, every club has their price.

If Emery can get upwards of £90m for the winger, his sale needs to be considered at Villa Park

That type of money could finally end the Birmingham outfit’s PSR concerns in the immediate future, while also providing funds to strengthen the squad elsewhere.

Monchi has proved in recent windows that he is capable of finding bargains in the transfer market.

Therefore, it is likely that Villa will be able to find a replacement for half the price of his departure.

If Emery is to take Villa back to the Champions League next season, they must be smart in the market and cannot afford to reject crazy bids for their stars.
