Emery can’t have any complaints about the Argentina international’s sending off and must make changes at the break.
The Villans were all over the place in the first half and will need to pull off something special to beat Amorim’s team, who have dominated the proceedings so far.
Martinez makes massive error against Man United
Martinez may have played his final minutes for Emery, as he’s been linked with a move away in the upcoming transfer window.
The Argentine was seen in tears at Villa Park after beating Tottenham 2-0 on 16 May, and may be on his way out next summer.
With Champions League football up for grabs, it’s disappointing to see the Lions putting in one of their worst performances of the season on the final day.
Villa must win against Man United and hope results elsewhere go their way, as Newcastle United and Chelsea also hope to be in the top five.
With the World Cup-winner sent off, the Birmingham club will undoubtedly have an even more challenging time beating Amorim’s team.
If this is goodbye from Martinez, he’ll be disappointed to be sent off when he could have evidently contributed much more in the second half.
