Manchester United fans rage at Old Trafford directors box v Aston Villa – ’embarrassing’

Manchester United fans were raging before kick-off at Old Trafford as they faced Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.

Ruben Amorim’s team hosted Unai Emery’s side on 25 May, the final day of the 2024/25 league campaign.

The Red Devils have endured an abysmal season as they sit near the bottom of the top-flight table and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham.

Emery was hoping to win against Man United for a crucial three points that could’ve sealed their qualification to the Champions League, but they ended up losing 2-0.

Man United fans take aim at directors in Aston Villa clash

Man United fans stood in front of the director’s box in Old Trafford to express their dissatisfaction, Sam Matterface shared.

The talkSPORT pundit saw the Red Devils’ supporters protest with A4 sheets in their hands with the words “evicted, greed and embarrassing” written on them.

Matterface saw the Old Trafford faithful raging before kick-off, as the directors have overseen some disastrous months at the Manchester-based club.

Speaking on talkSPORT (25 May, 15:59), the sports broadcaster said: “As I speak, there are supporters standing in front of the director’s box with A4 printed sheets, ramming them in the faces of directors with the words — evicted, greed and embarrassing.”

Villa needed draw for Champions League football

The Villa Park faithful would’ve wanted to see Champions League football once again next season to make further progress.

Emery’s team beat Tottenham in their previous fixture, and supporters expected a similar result against Man United.

Amorim’s team dominated play in the opening 45 minutes, leaving the Villans sweating on occasions.

Emi Martinez’s red card for Villa left them with a mountain to climb, although they were close to achieving their goal.

Morgan Rogers saw his potential goal ruled out after taking the ball off Altay Bayindir, but the referee deemed the midfielder had committed a foul, which VAR couldn’t review as the referee blew his whistle before the ball went in.

Chelsea and Newcastle United are above the Lions in the Premier League, but a draw at Old Trafford would’ve been enough for them as the Tyneside outfit lost to Everton.

There will be some angry sentiments among the Villa Park faithful after the game, but they’ll undoubtedly be proud of the performance the Lions put in the second half.

It’ll be interesting to see what direction the Villans will go in next summer.
