Aston Villa hierachy ready terms in preparation for contract talks

Aston Villa have taken the fight for Champions League football to the final day of the season.

Whether or not the Villans secure a place in the European competition next season could have a big impact on their business in the summer transfer window.

After an impressive campaign at Villa Park, players including Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans have been linked with moves away from the West Midlands.

Unsurprisingly, that means Unai Emery is preparing for the summer transfer window already, with contract talks ready to take place.

Aston Villa contract negotiations revealed

There is also the danger of losing top players for a side like Aston Villa when having such a good season.

Villa have pushed in the Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as continuously fighting at the top of the Premier League table.

This always leads to players being linked with exits, but Emery will be certain of who he needs to retain in order to build upon this season’s progress.

Although Premier League champions Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Rogers, Villa are said to be stubborn on the fact that he is not for sale.

Tielemans has also caught the eye of some and after picking up the Villans’ Player of the Season award, that will only draw more attention to his success this term.

Tielemans has been a star for Aston Villa this season.

In addition to this, there is a call to be made over the future of Tyrone Mings, who is about to enter the final year of his contract at Villa Park.

The defender has struggled with injuries once more, making just 14 Premier League appearances.

With plenty of work to be done, journalist John Percy has reported via X (22 May), that Emery has his plans set out with talks set to take place.

Percy reports that Tielemans is likely to be offered improved terms on his deal, in the hope of showing his importance for Emery’s outfit.

Meanwhile, the hierarchy in the West Midlands are expected to hold talks with Mings over a deal to extend his current deal.

Emery knows what Aston Villa need

Given how well Villa have done under Emery’s management this season, it would be no surprise to see the hierarchy execute his wishes this summer.

Whether or not the Claret and Blue outfit finish in the top five will not change the domestic aims for next term, looking towards European football once more.

However, the boss will be well aware that a place in the Champions League can be of great benefit when it comes to negotiating new deals.

Tielemans is a key man for Aston Villa and a new deal there will come as no surprise to supporters.

A choice to extend Mings for another year, however, may be questionable to some, given the fitness issues he faces. However, Emery will no doubt have the full support of all at Villa Park to make the right calls this term.
