Aston Villa v Tottenham result predicted by supercomputer

Aston Villa face the appealing prospect of hosting Tottenham Hotspur on Friday as the pair lock horns in the Premier League.

The two sides are at opposite ends of the table, with Villa chasing a Champions League place, while Spurs are one place above the relegation zone.

For Unai Emery, a win is paramount if his side are to keep pace with the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle United and Chelsea.

A win would set up their final game of the season against Manchester United, who will have a European hangover to contend with.

Villa overwhelming favourites for Premier League clash

Villa are on course for a second successive season in Europe, with the ultimate goal of a Champions League spot.

As it stands, the top five would qualify for Europe’s premier competition, but there is work to do to get there.

Emery’s side sit sixth in the table but are crucially behind Chelsea on only goal difference.

It is a tight race for the Champions League spots

With so much riding on the league for the Spaniard, Villa enter the contest as strong favourites.

The Villans have a 66.3 per cent chance of victory, making them clear favourites to bag all three points, according to Opta’s supercomputer.

As for Tottenham, they are given just a 16 per cent chance of winning the game, with a draw 21.7 per cent likely.

Villa must go all-out attack against Spurs

Given that Tottenham’s focus will be on the Europa League final, Emery must lay siege to Tottenham’s leaky defence.

Postecoglou’s side have the joint fifth-worst defence in the division, along with West Ham United, having conceded 59 goals.

Villa possess a number of weapons who can punish the Lilywhites, including Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers and Marcus Rashford.

This approach suits the Villans, and the fact that Spurs’ boss does not switch tactics should suit them.

Of course, Tottenham’s attack cannot be underestimated and can be lethal on the break, but they will surely be resting players for their European final.

A meeting with the North London side should be the perfect tonic for Villa’s Champions League aspirations.

However, they cannot afford a slip-up.
