Gary Neville shares £8m Marcus Rashford reveal in Aston Villa deal

Gary Neville has spoken out on Aston Villa loanee Marcus Rashford ahead of the summer window.

The England international joined the Villans on a six-month deal until the end of the campaign and has gone on to be largely successful.

Despite picking up an injury to potentially end his season early, the 27-year-old has contributed to a number of important goals in claret and blue.

With a permanent switch to Villa Park in question ahead of the window, Neville has shared a £8million admission from Manchester United.

Neville in £8m Rashford update from Manchester United

There is a large number of fans who would love to see the versatile forward return to B6 when the summer window finally opens up.

It is fair to say that in terms of raw ability, the Red Devils academy product is one of the best available in the Villa squad right now.

As a result, bringing him back to continue work under Unai Emery could prove to be a masterstroke, ready for the new Premier League campaign.

With that being said, Rashford’s wages and hopes of joining Barcelona could scupper any hopes of a move.

Although that may be the case, United could be desperate to part ways with the Englishman, as Neville revealed how much is being spent on the wantaway forward.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate (14 May), he said: “Eight to 10 players have to go.

“There are three or four players who will leave at the end of their contracts just naturally, and he [Ruben Amorim] needs to get five or six out, and they will have to pay to get them out, big money.

“Rashford’s wages now will be paid half by Manchester United, that’s £180k a week, that’s £8m a year, that’s being paid by United.”

Aston Villa can dream of Rashford signing

It does feel as if any move to sign the forward on a permanent basis will hinge on where Villa finish in the Premier League this season.

A top-five finish and Champions League football could be enough to tempt Rashford back to B6 in what would be a sizable coup for the Villans.

This would undoubtedly bring more eyes onto the claret and blue outfit and allow the Englishman time to settle and continue to grow under Emery.

Although this may represent bad news for someone like Ollie Watkins, it does feel as if the signing of the United man has to be done if it’s possible.
