Aston Villa stuck in ‘Unreasonable’ Premier League talks – ‘It’s a complete farce’
Aston Villa successfully earned their 17th win of the Premier League season via their 1-0 triumph over Fulham on Saturday.
Unai Emery’s men have successfully re-established their positive momentum, and will strive to beat Bournemouth on Saturday (10 May) to build some momentum.
Villa did well to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final, which boasted the potential to knock their confidence and consequently derail their season.
Emery’s side have just one home game left to play, and are currently set to host Tottenham at Villa Park on 18 May.

Premier League discussions ahead of Villa v Tottenham dubbed a ‘farce’
Villa’s Premier League clash with Tottenham is currently set to take place just three days before the Europa League final, which Spurs appear likely to compete in.
However, the Premier League are still discussing whether to change the date and time of the fixture, which is supposed to take place in less than two weeks.
| Opponent | Result |
| Manchester City (A) | 2-1 L |
| Crystal Palace (FA Cup semi-final) | 3-0 L |
| Fulham (H) | 1-0 W |
The Daily Telegraph’s Matt Law hit out at the delay, posting on X (5 May): “Premier League say discussions re the date and time of the Villa-Tottenham game, scheduled for May 18, less than two weeks away, are still ongoing.
“It’s a complete farce and totally unreasonable. GA (general admission) tickets have been on sale for over a week for a game without a confirmed date.”
Villa can still land Champions League football
The West Midlands giants have enjoyed a largely strong campaign and reached the Champions League quarter-finals, as well as the FA Cup semi-finals.
Meanwhile, alongside their European and FA Cup exploits, Emery’s men have also remained in contention to land a top-five spot.
Saturday’s win over Fulham has handed Villa momentum once more, while the men in claret and blue should fancy their chances of beating both Tottenham and Manchester United in their last two games, as both Spurs and the Red Devils are set to finish in the bottom half.
Although Bournemouth beat Arsenal on Saturday, Emery’s side should boast enough quality among their ranks to defeat the Cherries in Dorset next time out.
Villa are capable of winning each of their last three fixtures, while a slip-up from any of Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea or Nottingham Forest could be enough to see the West Midlands outfit competing in the Champions League once more next term.
