Newcastle star exit on the cards due to Aston Villa transfer flop
Aston Villa are expected to have a busy transfer window this summer.
Once again, Villa will be restricted by PSR, meaning they will have to sell to buy.
This has prompted rumours that Emi Martinez could leave Villa as they look to raise funds.
Unai Emery will no doubt want to improve his squad yet again in the summer to help the club reach the Champions League once again.
However, the performances of former star Douglas Luiz may unintentionally help Villa qualify for Europe next season as Juventus now eyes Sandro Tonali.

Douglas Luiz could return to the Premier League in swap deal for Newcastle’s Tonali
One of the biggest losses for Villa over the past year has been Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian was easily one of the club’s best players and was fundamental to their rise up the Premier League table.
However, Douglas Luiz was sold to Juventus last summer to help the Birmingham outfit comply with PSR.
Yet, the Brazilian could be set to make a shock move back to the Premier League due to his poor performances for the Old Lady.

According to Mirror, page 66, (2 May), Juventus want to sign Newcastle’s Tonali this summer due to the Brazilian’s underperformance.
It states that the Italian giants want to offer the Premier League outfit Douglas Luiz, plus cash for the midfielder.
However, Newcastle have no intention of letting Tonali go after his outstanding campaign this year.

Aston Villa should consider a summer move for Douglas Luiz
It is clear that Douglas Luiz’s move to Juventus has not worked. The Brazilian has barely played in 2025, and when he has, it has been from the bench.
Therefore, Villa should test the waters to see if they can get the midfielder back to Villa Park this summer.
Juventus may be willing to cut their losses and sell Douglas Luiz before his value plummets further.
While the performances of the Villa squad this season have shown that they can survive without the Brazilian, he would be an excellent addition this summer if they can get a deal done.
