NSWE ‘to consider £100m+ Morgan Rogers sale’ amid Aston Villa PSR concern

Aston Villa could be forced to sell Morgan Rogers this summer as a Chelsea transfer update emerges.

It has been a largely positive season for Aston Villa.

However, things have begun to unravel in recent weeks, with Unai Emery’s side eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain before losing the FA Cup semi-final 3-0 against Crystal Palace at Wembley (26 April).

In addition, several players face uncertain futures this summer, including Ollie Watkins, who could demand to quit Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, concerns have begun to emerge over Emiliano Martínez, and it appears Rogers could be another high-profile Villa star on his way out of the West Midlands this summer.

Chelsea target Aston Villa star Rogers

Rogers has been one of Villa’s standout players this season. As a result, the 22-year-old has been linked with a summer exit, with a return to Manchester City mooted as a potential option.

In addition, according to The Independent (29 April), Chelsea want to sign Rogers from Villa.

The Villans do not want to sell the England international, viewing him as a star for the future. However, there is a widespread belief in football that clubs could be forced to sell players they want to keep this summer due to profit and sustainability rules, with Villa under particular pressure in this regard.

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Villa would demand more than £100m for Rogers, and ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes NSWE would consider a sale if they were to receive that kind of bid.

“It would take £100m for Villa to sell Rogers,” King said.

“Considering the kind of fees we’ve seen Chelsea pay for players, Rogers is definitely worth that kind of money. If that kind of offer arrives, I think it would certainly be considered.

“It might even be more, it could be £110million or £120million.”

Rogers would be a big loss for Aston Villa

Emery will no doubt want to keep Rogers.

The playmaker has demonstrated his potential this season and is still only 22 years old. However, if Villa do receive an offer of £100m, that would certainly be difficult to turn down.
