Agbonlahor moots ‘big problem’ at Aston Villa amid contract update – ‘Crazy’
Aston Villa could be set for a summer of turmoil with Gabby Agbonlahor left concerned by what he’s seen.
The Villans fell out of the FA Cup and Champions League within weeks of each other, with a top-five spot also on the line in B6.
A clash against Fulham awaits on 3 May as Unai Emery looks to get his side’s season back on track with just four games remaining until the campaign ends.
With the summer in mind at Villa Park, Agbonlahor has been left concerned by what he has heard about the West Midlands outfit.

Agbonlahor concerned with finances at Aston Villa
Last summer, Monchi was forced to work with strict financial constraints as a large number of incoming and outgoing transfers went through.
Although that may have worked with the likes of Amadou Onana and Ian Maatsen coming in, the loss of Douglas Luiz caused plenty of harm.
This could be set to be repeated in the upcoming window, especially if the Villans don’t qualify for the Champions League this season.
Position | Team | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
5. | Chelsea | 34 | 19 | 60 |
6. | Nottingham Forest | 33 | 14 | 60 |
7. | Aston Villa | 34 | 5 | 57 |
Even if that is achieved, problems could still be on their way to Villa Park as monetary issues continue to revolve around the B6 club.
Agbonlahor picked up on this live on talkSPORT (30 April, 09:23am) and has also mooted issues with new contracts in the near future.
He said: “The big problem with Villa is, 90 per cent of the revenue on wages, that’s crazy, but they’re paying an average wage of 120k per week.
“Some players will be on more than that, some less, and you’ve got some players like Kamara who need a new contract. The wages aren’t going to go down, they’re only going to go up.”

Aston Villa could face PSR issues again
There is no doubt that it was a huge disappointment to lose the likes of Luiz and Moussa Diaby in the most recent summer window.
This duo had a telling impact as Villa earned a spot in the Champions League and reached a Conference League semi-final.
Now Emery will be keen to build on that and improve his squad in the near future, while also keeping hold of someone like Kamara.
That may not be possible if financial issues continue to rear their head in B6 and sales become a necessary requirement once again.
Morgan Rogers and the likes may face an uncertain future in what could be a frustrating summer for Emery and Co.
