Aston Villa ‘to accept £30m Leon Bailey bid’ as transfer news emerges

Leon Bailey looks increasingly likely to end his near-four-year stay with Aston Villa this summer.

Aston Villa signed Bailey for £25million from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021.

The winger has played more than 140 times for the Villans. However, the 27-year-old has started just 14 times in the Premier League this season and could move on in the summer.

Aston Villa ‘to demand £30million for Bailey’

As a result of a recent flurry of transfer activity at Villa Park, doubts have emerged over Bailey’s future.

And an update has been provided ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

Bailey has struggled to make an impact this season for Aston Villa

As reported by GiveMeSport (21 April), Bailey is expected to embark on a fresh challenge this summer, and clubs have begun to express an interest in the forward as a result of his lack of game time this season.

Bailey is increasingly likely to quit Unai Emery’s side as he was left out of the squad altogether for the controversial 4-1 Premier League win over Newcastle United at Villa Park on Saturday (19 April).

Despite his preference to remain, should it become clear that he does not fit into Emery’s plans, Bailey would become more open to a transfer exit, and ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes £30m would be enough to reach an agreement.

“This is an international player we are talking about,” King said.

“He plays for Jamaica, and he has put in some impressive displays since joining Villa. Therefore, I imagine a bid of £30m will need to be made if Villa are to sign off on his exit.

“This is a good squad player, and is the kind of player you want in your first-team squad. However, if he isn’t playing first-team football regularly, as I’m sure he was assured he would be doing when he arrived at Villa, he will likely want to move on. I think a bid of £30m could be accepted.”

Bailey should move on from Aston Villa

It is unclear whether Marcus Rashford will remain at Villa next season. However, even without Rashford, Emery still has plenty of options in the attacking areas thanks to the arrival of Donyell Malen.

Therefore, it seems as though Bailey is being edged out, and as he enters the final two years of his contract, this summer could be the perfect time for Villa and the Jamaican to cut ties.
