Aston Villa favourites to seal record-breaking Nypan signing in multi-million deal – Exclusive

Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Sverre Nypan from Norwegian giants Rosenborg.

Unai Emery has transformed Villa’s fortunes on the pitch, with the club pushing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for a second consecutive season.

In addition, the Villans will take on Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday (26 April) for a place in the FA Cup final.

And now it looks as though the West Midlands-based outfit are flexing their muscle off the pitch too.

Villa favourites to sign Nypan ahead of Arsenal

As reported by Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas via X (15 April), Arsenal had been in for Nypan since January.

However, it looks as though Villa are set to beat the Gunners to the 18-year-old’s signature, with Fabrizio Romano reporting on Tuesday (22 April) that Aston Villa are closing in on an agreement with Nypan, with club-to-club talks to follow and a confidence that a deal will get done.

And ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – has revealed that the fees involved in Nypan’s move to Aston Villa could make this a record-breaking transfer.

“Nypan is a very talented boy,” King said.

“It looks as though Villa are the favourites, according to the reports here in Norway, where the expectations for Nypan are big. This is going to be an interesting deal, which I imagine will be worth anywhere between £10-20million.

“That is what they’re saying here in Norway. This could be a record deal for a player moving from Norway, especially to a Premier League club.”

Aston Villa continue to move in the right direction under Emery

While this might not be a player that many supporters had heard of previously, the fact that Arsenal were also pushing for his signature demonstrates that Nypan is someone to get excited by.

In addition, the midfielder’s extensive experience at such a young age and the fees thought to be involved in a deal show that this is a player who could come in and make an immediate impact.
