Aston Villa v PSG: Ex-Birmingham striker shocked by ‘unbelievable’ Rashford moment

Clinton Morrison has heaped praise on Marcus Rashford after his brilliant assist in Aston Villa’s Champions League quarter-final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.

Aston Villa entered the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final with a 3-1 deficit. The Villans quickly went 2-0 down to PSG, but a fantastic second half meant they were just one goal away from forcing extra-time.

The comeback started when Youri Tielemans pulled a goal back in the 34th minute, before John McGinn doubled Villa’s tally with a stunner in the 55th minute to bring Villa right back into it.

Two minutes after McGinn’s stunner, some fine work from Rashford as he took on two players following a corner, meant he was able to put it on a plate for Villa defender Ezri Konsa who gave the home side further hopes of forcing the game into extra-time.

Ex-Birmingham striker Morrison told Sky Sports: “No way, what have I just witnessed? Let me tell you something, Marcus Rashford, unbelievable.

“He’s just come alive. It’s from the corner, it’s come back to him he turns one way, turns the other way he comes to the by-line, picks out Konsa, he rolls it into that bottom corner.

“Oh wow, game on 5-4 on aggregate, brilliant from Aston Villa. I’m an expert, I shouldn’t be celebrating like this, but you can’t help yourself when it gets like this, what a game by the way.”

What could’ve lied ahead for Aston Villa

The Villans were just one goal away from forcing the game to go to extra time and potentially pushing for a comeback similar to the one that current PSG manager Luis Enrique completed against Unai Emery when he was in charge of tonight’s opponents.

A win would have meant Aston Villa make their first Champions League semi-final since the early nineties, with the claret and blue side hoping to extend on their successful spell in the Premier League.

Villa could’ve potentially faced Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Arsenal in the semi-final if they had won tonight.
