Robin Olsen ‘will never play for Aston Villa again’ after latest news

Aston Villa are showing no signs of slowing down with the progress they have been making lately.

Unai Emery has numerous impressive signings throughout his time in charge of the Midlands club, bringing an improvement in quality overall.

Those signings have paid off as Emery’s side are currently fighting on two fronts for silverware in the FA Cup and the Champions League, while they’re competing to secure European football with their Premier League finish.

The Villans are aiming to progress and become one of England’s most competitive teams, and making further signings is the way to do that.

Aston Villa are looking at their next signing

Villa might be focusing on potentially signing their current loanees on a permanent basis in the summer, Emery is also looking to improve his defensive options – most notably in goal.

Emi Martinez is widely considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world, so the idea of replacing him seems pointless.

However, providing stronger competition would not be, as Robin Olsen is starting to wind down his career now at 35 years old, which could lead to him moving on as Villa attempts to keep improving the squad.

That’s why Villa are now looking at other goalkeepers to sign, as DHA have reported that the Premier League side want to sign Eyupspor shot stopper, Berke Ozer.

The 24-year-old would bring an element of youth to the squad, while providing slightly more serious competition to Martinez as a potential long-term replacement for him if he continues to make the necessary improvements.

Aston Villa continue to progress

Villa are showing no signs of slowing down with the improvements they’re making on the pitch, and Emery is guiding the team to success with their performances.

If they are able to secure any silverware at the end of the season, it would be seen as another step in the right direction for the Midlands side, and that would only help them in their pursuit of signing top players from across Europe.

Ozer would be seen as an upgrade for Villa, with the goalkeeper having kept 10 clean sheets in 28 Super Lig matches throughout this season, earning a call-up to the Turkey national team in the process.
