Marcus Rashford torn to shreds despite another Aston Villa win – ‘Overrated’

Marcus Rashford has continued to come under fire despite coming on in another Aston Villa win on Saturday.

The England international was a second-half substitute as the Villans secured a 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest on 5 April.

Goals from Morgan Rogers and Donyell Malen were enough to take all three points as the 27-year-old came on to help see out the result.

Despite doing exactly that while continuing a string of positive performances in claret and blue, the loanee has continued to come under fire on social media.

Manchester United fans slam Rashford again

The Old Trafford academy product has been electric since moving to the West Midlands after a difficult spell under Ruben Amorim.

It took until 30 March for the Englishman to grab his first goal for the Villans before adding to it just three days later with a strike against Brighton.

This goal in a 3-0 win before three points against Forest has moved Unai Emery’s side up to sixth in the table, while Manchester United sit 13th.

As a result, it is little surprise that the Red Devils’ fan base would feel frustration towards Rashford with negative messages continuing to come in on social media.

This saw one fan suggest via X (6 April) that the versatile forward is “overpaid and overrated” and would rather have Alejandro Garnacho over him at Old Trafford.

Another United supporter said that he had “checked out” under Amorim but it is clear from his Villa spell that he is willing to put the work in where he is appreciated.

Rashford will now be leaning towards Aston Villa move

It appears that a large section of the Red Devils’ fan base is done with Rashford and have turned to negative social media comments.

That isn’t acceptable and could end any hope of the 27-year-old returning to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Since linking up with Emery, the Englishman has been superb and is loved by the Villa Park faithful, which has allowed him to flourish in multiple positions.

His partnership with Marco Asensio has also been excellent, and that could see both loanees sign on a permanent deal in the summer.
