Declan Rice reacts as Morgan Rogers sends two-word message after Aston Villa win
Declan Rice has reached out to Morgan Rogers on social media after his goal in an Aston Villa win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The England international scored the opener for the Villans in a 2-1 victory on 6 April that sent his side sixth in the Premier League.
Donyell Malen’s strike just two minutes later was enough to secure three points despite Jota Silva’s early second-half strike off the bench.
Despite a raft of chances for Forest, Rogers caught the eye once again with Arsenal star Rice, who recognised this on social media.
Rice reacts to Rogers after Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest
It is fair to say that Unai Emery’s side are in a positive groove right now, winning seven out of seven across all competitions.
That form has been partly down to the quality of Villa’s squad right now as the Spanish head coach looks to get the best out of all his players.
This saw him make eight changes against Forest but still came away with all three points against a side firmly in the hunt for a Champions League spot.
With that being said, Rogers was still afforded a start, such as his importance in the squad, and proved exactly why with his touch and strike to open the scoring.
Taking to Instagram after the win (6 April), the 22-year-old simply said, “Big dubs!” Referring to the importance of the win in B6.
This message was liked by England teammate Rice and was also met with comments from the likes of Jacob Ramsey, Lucas Digne and Tyrone Mings.
Rogers shines for Aston Villa once again
The man signed from Middlesbrough just continues to defy expectations in B6 and gets better every single week.
Rogers has an ability on the ball, which can only truly be compared to Ramsey in the Villa squad, that makes him such a danger going forward.
This was on show against Forest as he netted one and so nearly scored another at the Holte End before Matz Sels intervened for the Reds.
He already has 20 goal involvements for the season and will be hopeful of more as a Champions League clash against PSG awaits.
