Agbonlahor makes Marcus Rashford admission amid ‘big’ Aston Villa development

Marcus Rashford is hoping to put his Manchester United struggles behind him at Aston Villa.

Aston Villa roped in Rashford on loan until the end of the season in the winter transfer window after he fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

Unai Emery has managed to draw some good performances from the England international, who has now provided four assists in nine appearances across all competitions for the Birmingham-based club.

Aston Villa have an option to buy Rashford for £40million at the end of the season, and as they enter the final stretch of the season, a lot of attention will be on whether the forward has done enough to earn such a move.

Agbonlahor tips hat to Rashford after what he’s seen

There appears to be a change in Rashford‘s attitude as he was pictured training with Jamie Reynolds, a Birmingham-based fitness coach, after returning from international duty with England.

The Manchester United loanee shared pictures of his session with Reynolds on his Instagram account on Thursday (27 March) along with a caption that read “the extra 1%”.

Agbonlahor has been impressed by the 27-year-old’s newfound dedication, tipping his hat to him live on air.

The former Aston Villa captain went on to stress the importance of players having a ‘positive environment’, something he feels the attacker lacked at Manchester United.

“A little shoutout to Marcus Rashford, he was pictured yesterday with one of the local fitness coaches, Jamie Reynolds, a great coach”, Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT (28 March, 5:22 pm).

“He was doing extra on the pitch, that’s what you want to see.

“He has come to a positive environment, maybe didn’t have at Manchester United.

“Now, he is in on his days off, doing extra with local coaches.”

Agbonlahor also said that moving away from the ‘negative vibes’ at Old Trafford has made a ‘big difference’ for Rashford already.

He added: “Sometimes you’ve got to get away from negative vibes at certain clubs and come to a positive environment at another club. That makes a big difference.”

Aston Villa to buy Rashford from Manchester United

It is fair to say that a lot of people considered Rashford to be a lost cause after his struggles at Manchester United earlier this season.

However, there is no denying that he is still a very capable footballer, with his best years potentially ahead of him.

If there is anyone who can get the best out of Rashford, it is Emery, and that is exactly what he will aim to do between now and the end of the season.

It will not be a surprise if Aston Villa decide to make the right-footer’s move from Manchester United permanent for the said £40m.
