‘Tyrone Mings tipped for West Ham move’ amid Aston Villa injury development

Tyrone Mings could be on his way out of Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

The England international has been excellent at times for the Villans since returning from a long-term injury earlier in the campaign.

With that being said, the 32-year-old hasn’t been without his mistakes with his handball against Club Brugge likely to remain long in the memory.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, there is every chance that Mings could be on his way out of Villa Park.

Mings could leave Aston Villa in summer

There is so much expectation on Unai Emery and his side this season, with fans hoping for a third consecutive year of European qualification.

The Spaniard has been handed a boost with that in mind after Pau Torres made his return from injury against Club Brugge in the Champions League round of 16.

If the 28-year-old is going to become a regular once again for upcoming fixtures against PSG and Preston, Mings is likely to be set aside.

Former Brentford and Leicester City manager Martin Allen has told West Ham Zone (25 March) that this could represent the end for the Englishman, who could join West Ham in the summer.

He said: “Torres is an excellent centre-back, and he will go in ahead of Mings once he’s back from injury.

“Mings can definitely play at a good level in the Premier League. Clubs coming up from the Championship are bound to be asking about signing him.

“Would West Ham sign him? I think they probably would.

“He’s had a good career and I think there’s going to be plenty of clubs interested. It is just unfortunate that he’s behind two very good defenders at Villa right now.”

Torres to replace Mings in Aston Villa starting XI

It is fair to say that the Villans have missed Torres since he picked up an injury against Brighton back in December.

Since then, the Spain international has been absent for 17 games across all competitions, most recently coming on for 24 minutes against Club Brugge.

Moving forward, with clashes in the Champions League, FA Cup and Premier League coming up, his importance is only going to grow.

Alongside England international Ezri Konsa, the former Villarreal man can help form a partnership which served Villa so well in the last campaign.

Mings certainly represents a positive backup option right now ,but it is unlikely that he will accept that role moving forward into the new season.
