Aston Villa told to sign Rodrigo Bentancur amid Tottenham transfer news
Aston Villa have been told to sign Rodrigo Bentancur as Unai Emery’s side eye another first-team Tottenham player.
Emery already has several talented midfielders at his disposal.
Morgan Rogers, who was recently sent a message by Jude Bellingham, has been a standout performer in the West Midlands this season, operating in a more attacking midfield role.
Meanwhile, Marco Asensio – who could make his stay with Aston Villa permanent – has settled in quickly since joining on loan from Paris Saint-German in the winter transfer window.
Youri Tielemans, John McGinn and Boubacar Kamara have also impressed in recent months with their displays further back in midfield. However, it looks as though Emery is keen to add more depth in this area of the pitch.

Aston Villa told to sign Bentancur instead of Tottenham teammate
As reported by GiveMeSport (28 March), Villa could try to sign Yves Bissouma, who has fallen out of favour under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.
The Mali international looks destined for a Spurs exit this summer, and Villa could welcome the 28-year-old, who also has offers from France.
However, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – thinks Emery should try to convince Bentancur to join the club instead.
“Perhaps Villa are looking for a bit more quality in midfield,” King said.
Tottenham | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Rodrigo Bentancur | 101 | 9 | 8 |
“I would think that Bissouma would get a new lease of life if he went to Villa. He never knows if he is going to start multiple games on the bounce with Tottenham, which isn’t a great confidence booster for any footballer.
“Therefore, I think he could lift his career if he went to Villa; it certainly wouldn’t be a bad signing for them. However, I would advise Villa and Emery to go and sign Bentancur before they try and sign Bissouma.”

Aston Villa should sign Bentancur instead of Bissouma
If Villa are choosing between Bentancur and Bissouma, the former is the obvious choice.
Bentancur would represent a quality addition to the Villa squad, and he is still just 27 years old. However, it remains to be seen how difficult it would be to agree a deal with Tottenham.
