Emery ‘plans to reunite with player at Aston Villa’ after personal scouting mission
Aston Villa are looking to strengthen their squad in the upcoming transfer window and manager Unai Emery is eyeing a reunion with a player.
Following the sale of Jhon Duran in the winter transfer window, the Villains signed Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio on loan. The arrivals have massively helped Villa in their pursuit of European football next season as they remain just four points off top four.
The West Midlands side have already started working on strengthening their squad in the summer as Emery looks to maintain the top-quality in the squad and challenge on all fronts in the upcoming season.
Defence is an area that would need attention in the summer and, as things stand, Aston Villa have already identified their desired target to reinforce the defence.

Emery eyes Villarreal player
Villa currently have Matty Cash and Andres Garcia as right-back options in the squad. On loan player Axel Disasi can play as a right-back too but the Chelsea man is more accustomed to the centre-back role.
Villarreal defender Juan Foyth was on Villa’s shortlist and the English side made a concrete attempt to sign the Argentinian in the winter transfer window.
Unfortunately, the Claret and the Blue couldn’t sign Foyth despite Emery making it public that he wanted to sign the Villarreal man.
The former Tottenham defender was flattered at Villa’s interest in January. As things stand, the 27-year-old continues to draw interest from Aston Villa as they have not given up on their chase for Foyth.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Villa manager Emery was present at Estadio de la Ceramica as Villarreal hosted Real Madrid.
Although the hosts lost 2-1 to Carlo Ancelotti’s side, Emery was left impressed with Foyth, who scored for the Yellow Submarine.
The scouting mission proved to be successful one as the Spanish manager could see Foyth up close. Emery has already worked with Foyth at Villarreal with the Argentine defender making 74 appearances under him.

Aston Villa still have plenty to play for
Just four points off fourth-placed Chelsea, Aston Villa have a realistic chance of making it to the Champions League spots if they play their cards right.
Fourth to tenth teams in the league table are separated by just five points, and all Villa need is to consistently perform and pick up points.
Villa also stand a chance to progress in the FA Cup as they are the favourites in quarter-finals against Preston North End. The Villains will then face PSG in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in April.
