Aston Villa line up ‘perfect Tyrone Mings replacement’ amid £40m transfer news
Tyrone Mings looks to be coming to the end of his Aston Villa stay amid £40million transfer news.
Mings started as Aston Villa beat Club Brugge 3-1 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Tuesday (4 March).
The centre-back also started and had a night to forget after his bizarre handball when the two teams met in the league phase of the competition, as Villa were beaten 1-0 at the same venue on Wednesday, 6 November.
Mings had a much better night this time around, helping Unai Emery’s side to a crucial win and making a wonderful goaline clearance along the way.
However, with the 31-year-old out of contract at the end of next season, and having struggled with injuries as of late, it looks as though his time with Villa could be coming to an end as a “perfect” replacement is lined up.

Aston Villa want to sign Joel Ordóñez from Club Brugge
As reported by The Sun on Sunday (2 March, page 55), Villa are readying a £40million move to sign Club Brugge defender Joel Ordóñez.
Unai Emery’s side have been interested in the 20-year-old, who can play both centre-back and right-back, since the two sides met in the league phase of the Champions League earlier this season.
And ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – thinks Ordóñez could replace Mings in the West Midlands.
“They have obviously had a good chance to take a look at this player,” King said.
Club Brugge | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Joel Ordóñez | 68 | 3 | 1 |
“He is the right age, the right profile. I think he is a bit expensive; I would have thought an offer of about £30million would be about right for him.
“However, it looks as though Mings is coming to the end of his time at Villa. Therefore, this player could be the perfect replacement for him. Young with a big future ahead of him.”

Aston Villa should pull out all the stops to sign Ordóñez
If Villa are going to cash in on Mings, they will need to sell him this summer. In addition, it feels as though this might be the right time to move on from the Englishman and bring in a young, exciting replacement.
Ordóñez is exactly that, plus a player who also boasts a lot of experience at the age of 20.
Therefore, this could be a good bit of business for Emery and Villa.
