Aston Villa exclusive: Tyrone Mings injury news emerges for Cardiff City clash

Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings was recently out with a mild knee injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that it was likely a Grade 1 setback he suffered in the recent 2-1 win over Chelsea.

The England international was back on the bench against Crystal Palace on 25 February, but was an unused substitute.

Unai Emery may be told to withdraw Tyrone Mings in the second half v Cardiff City

Despite him returning to the bench, the Villa medical staff may be a tad cautious with the centre-back.

The 31-year-old should be cleared to start if that’s what Unai Emery wants, but he may not have him for the entire match.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “This sounds like a mild injury based on the manager’s comments.

If it was muscular or ligament related, I reckon it’s a Grade 1 knee injury.

If that’s the case, Tyrone Mings should be closer to 100 per cent relatively quickly.

He was on the bench against Crystal Palace so that’s a positive but he may not be ready to yet to play 90 minutes over the weekend but should be fine to start.

This could mean the Spaniard will start the 31-year-old but take him off around the 60th or 75th-minute mark, based on Dr Brar’s recommendations.

FA Cup run would be something the Aston Villa fans will be craving

A fifth-round FA Cup clash at home to Cardiff City on 28 February is certainly a favourable draw for the Villans.

They’ve already seen off Spurs and with Arsenal and Liverpool also knocked out of the tournament, Emery will fancy his side’s chances of going deep in the tournament.

This is also something the fans would want as they’ve already seen their team do well in the Champions League this season.

Winning a trophy this campaign would truly be a remarkable achievement and while the Champions League would be the dream, most fans would realistically back their side’s chances of doing something in the FA Cup.
