NSWE take ‘Exceptional’ Marcus Rashford gamble after new Aston Villa reveal
Aston Villa and NSWE have taken a massive gamble to sign Manchester United star Marcus Rashford after numbers were revealed, Dan Plumley has said.
The Villans signed the England international on loan towards the end of the transfer window, including an option to buy that could hit £40million.
Rashford could make his debut at Villa Park against Tottenham in the FA Cup on Sunday 9 February.
Marcus Rashford payout sensational at Aston Villa
It was sensationally revealed that NSWE are paying 75 per cent of Rashford’s £315,000-a-week wages (BBC), with ambitions high.
Plumley, a football finance expert, admitted that Unai Emery has worked wonders so the payout may be worth it for the owners at Villa Park.
“I think the Rashford one is a gamble,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“Whichever way you cut it and whatever you think about the player, I think the numbers dictate that it is a gamble.
“He’s certainly an exceptional football, but we’re just not seeing that on the pitch at the minute for whatever reason, we don’t quite know, but I think if you look at the numbers, it’s a gamble.
“It might be absolutely brilliant for Aston Villa, they are in the Champions League, it gives him the opportunity, we’re talking about this being a step up for Marcus Rashford, he’s going to a club that is in the Champions League, they are pushing for top four again and we know that Unai Emery has worked wonders.

“We know the owners are ambitious so it is a statement of intent for sure and they could be getting a hell of a player if he starts firing, but it is a gamble and certainly, when you look at those numbers, it’s a significant financial outlay for Villa.”
NSWE take massive gamble at Aston Villa
The ambitious owners at Villa Park have made it no secret that they are willing to invest heavily, with PSR a real thorn in their push to succeed at a higher level.
Rashford is a huge signing both on and off the pitch, with the sale of Jhon Duran one of the big reasons why this deal was likely possible.
As soon as the England star steps onto the pitch at Villa Park, potentially against Tottenham, this is when things get real.
