Gabby Agbonlahor makes Rashford claim at Aston Villa – ‘He’ll be off’
Gabby Agbonlahor says Marcus Rashford will “be off” from Aston Villa if he fails to impress after joining from Manchester United.
The forward joined the West Midlands side on a loan deal until the end of the season after Jhon Duran departed from Villa Park.
With just 15 appearances under his belt so far and having fallen out of favour with Ruben Amorim, this is a move that has been labelled as a make-or-break for the 27-year-old.
Speaking on talkSPORT (5 February, 18:43) Agbonlahor urged Rashford to be at his best. When asked by Andy Goldstein if this is the last chance for Rashford, Agbonlahor replied: “100 per cent. Last chance.
“In the sense of, he would have probably thought to himself, I’m Marcus Rashford I’ve played for Manchester United for seven, eight years I should be getting Barcelona, PSG, AC Milan, Inter Milan, didn’t happen mate.
“You know why? Because clubs won’t just sign you if you haven’t performed for two, three seasons, they won’t. So it’s been a couple of seasons now he’s not been at it, when you hear different managers say negative things as well, they can’t all be wrong that’s what comes into my mind.
“So he has to go to Aston Villa now and be in the best form that he’s ever had for me. He’s got to be at it, he’s got to be smiling, he’s got to be working hard because the Villa fans won’t have it as well. If he’s walking around and he’s jogging, you’ve seen the clips on social media where he’s just jogging around.
“He won’t do that at Villa because he’ll be off.”
Marcus Rashford has to impress at Aston Villa
It has been a difficult couple of seasons for Rashford at Manchester United under a number of different managers, which can’t have made things any easier.
Therefore, it probably is in the best interests of both parties on that side of the deal to part ways. With that in mind, it wasn’t a surprise to see Villa make the move to take the forward for the remainder of the campaign.
However, although things have been difficult, there is no doubt that Rashford’s attitude has not been up to scratch at times and that is something he has to make sure he leaves behind in Manchester.

His time at Aston Villa is a chance for a new start and for him to redeem himself to model how his future will look moving forward meaning it’s in his interests to perform well.
Furthermore, as Agbonlahor says, if he isn’t up to the expected standard for a side that are pushing for a Champions League place this term, he will simply be shown the exit door.
