Rashford says goodbye to Man United teammates amid Aston Villa transfer news
Aston Villa are a step closer to securing the signing of Marcus Rashford as the forward bids farewell to his Manchester United teammates, according to Simon Jones.
Mail Sport colleague Tom Collomosse posted on his X account via Jones (1 February), claiming Rashford had said his goodbyes at Carrington ready to make the switch down to Birmingham with Villa.
The deal will be the first transfer of Rashford’s career, as he begins an exciting chapter with Unai Emery’s side.
Collomosse shared: “From my colleague Simon Jones: Rashford has said goodbyes to Man Utd team-mates.”
Marcus Rashford edging closer to completing Aston Villa move
Rashford will be eager to prove a point for Aston Villa once his move has been completed, expected to be a loan deal.
It will be a fresh change of scenery for the England international away from his boyhood club, where he is at loggerheads with Ruben Amorim and unsettled.
It could pave the way not only to add to Emery’s attacking firepower but also put Rashford, 27, back in the Champions League spotlight in a bid to return to the Three Lions setup.
The Villans have already signed Donyell Malen in a similar area of the pitch in this window to replace Jaden Philogene who went to Ipswich Town.
There is anticipated to be some stern competition for places in Emery’s system, with depth much-needed as Villa fight on several fronts.
