Aston Villa are keen to sign Manchester United star Marcus Rashford before 3 February.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano (1 February), Unai Emery has given the green light for Villa to try and sign Rashford on loan, with negotiations ongoing.

According to David Ornstein (31 January), Rashford would need convincing to join Villa, with a move to Barcelona or remaining at Manchester United his preferred options.

However, ex-Villa scout Bryan King - speaking exclusively to Villa News - thinks the 27-year-old would make a move to the West Midlands as he looks to rebuild his career.

"Ruben Amorim clearly hasn't clicked with Rashford," King said.

"However, at the end of the day, it won't be Amorim leaving at this stage, it will be Rashford. Therefore, I'm sure Rashford would be open to joining Villa. This is a place where he could look to rebuild his career.

"You don't go from a good player to a bad player in just one season unless you make changes in your lifestyle. As a result, I think what Rashford needs to do is rebuild his lifestyle and his career and think about what's given him what he's got, and that is football."

Aston Villa to sign Manchester United star Marcus Rashford?

Signing Rashford would be a real statement of intent from Emery and Villa as they look to progress in the UEFA Champions League and continue climbing the Premier League.

Rashford might be reluctant to join Villa now. However, as time continues to pass by, and the winter transfer window gets closer to closing, the player will need to make a decision.

It is clear that Rashford isn't going to feature prominently under Amorim at United.

Therefore, if he wants to play football between now and June, he will need to move on, and there are certainly far worse places to play your football at the moment than Villa Park.
