Ollie Watkins ‘to be angry’ with Rashford and Félix arrivals at Aston Villa

Ollie Watkins could face plenty of competition if Aston Villa sign Marcus Rashford and João Félix.

Villa’s first-choice striker has only just shaken off the competition from Jhon Duran after it was confirmed via the club’s official website (31 January) that the 21-year-old had joined Al-Nassr, with a big-money clause thought to be tied into the deal.

However, it looks as though Unai Emery could once again have options up front, with Neil Moxley reporting via X (1 February) that a deal for Rashford is close to being sorted, while Félix is thought to be very interested in joining Emery’s side [via TEAMtalk, 29 January].

Therefore, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – doesn’t

“I’d imagine Félix would be joining on loan with an option to buy,” King said.

“However, if a fee needs to be paid, Villa would likely have to make a choice, because if you’re going to bring both Rashford and Félix to the club, Watkins is going to be angry.

“I think Villa made the right choice keeping Watkins instead of Duran because he is a very good club man. However, he wouldn’t be happy if both Rashford and Félix are signed.”

Ollie Watkins to be angry with Marcus Rashford and João Félix transfers at Aston Villa?

Watkins is no doubt the main man at Villa. However, if Rashford and Félix were to be signed, that could no doubt change, as both players will expect to play first-team football.

Therefore, it is understandable why Watkins wouldn’t be best pleased, especially after everything he has done and continues to do for Villa.

However, part of being an elite footballer is dealing with healthy competition. Watkins proved that he deserved to continue starting and has outlasted Duran despite the Colombian’s fine form.

As a result, the England international should be confident of doing the same in the face of competition from Rashford and Félix.
