Leon Bailey ‘packing his bags’ as Aston Villa close in on ‘blockbuster transfer’

Leon Bailey has struggled to hit the same dazzling heights the Aston Villa star reached during the 2023/24 campaign.

The Jamaican winger notched 10 goals and nine assists in the Premier League last term, only being bettered by Ollie Watkins, but he has just three goal contributions right now.

Supporters have become more and more frustrated with his performances in Claret & Blue, with Donyell Malen and Jacob Ramsey now likely to push him onto the bench for the second half of the campaign.

With Villa competing to rise up the Premier League table, and progress in the Champions League and the FA Cup, Unai Emery needs his stars at their very best if they are to be successful.

If Bailey’s current form continues, it could just be a matter of time before he is packing his bags at Villa Park, especially with the latest transfer link emerging for the Villans.

Aston Villa to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United?

According to Fabrizio Romano, Emery has given the green light to sign Marcus Rashford on loan, with the England international looking to secure a move away from Old Trafford.

While the 27-year-old is often utilised on the left flank, the Spaniard could choose to replace Bailey on the opposite side, which would only spell trouble for the Jamaican.

Speculation has surrounded the Man United figure for weeks, but if Villa can strike a blockbuster deal for the goal-hungry forward, it would be an incredible turn of events at Villa Park.

Bailey has been a constant performer since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, making 136 appearances during that time, but Villa are in a position now to be striking deals for incredible players.

Emery cannot afford for his attacking stars’ form to drop incredibly, which Bailey’s looks to have done recently, so it would be a huge blow for the winger if Rashford were to arrive before the window closes.
