Leon Bailey should be dropped by Unai Emery when Aston Villa host Southampton after his performance against Brentford.

The Villans secured a first victory in nine matches with a 3-1 victory over the Bees however Bailey failed to make a significant impact on the contest.

The 27-year-old has struggled to find his form this campaign after a wonderful season last time out, where he notched 10 goals and nine assists in 35 Premier League games.

Aston Villa have a Leon Bailey problem

However, the former Bayer Leverkusen man was a shadow of his former self in the victory over Brentford.

While Morgan Rodgers, Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran all impressed, Bailey was frustrating, failing to make the desired impact.

His deliveries into the box were poor, he failed with both crosses that he attempted and he also failed in all of his three attempted dribbles.

Defensively, he was slightly better, as he made six recoveries, one interception and won the only tackle he attempted but he did only win 29 per cent of the seven ground duels that he attempted.

After the dismal performance against Brentford, Bailey does not deserve to start at the weekend against Southampton.
