Jhon Duran ‘to earn £300,000-a-week’ amid £60m Aston Villa update – Exclusive

Jhon Duran could be in line to earn £300,000-a-week if he leaves Aston Villa for Saudi Arabia, says Martin Allen.

The Villans are said to be in the process of accepting a bid from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr to sign the Colombia international [L’Equipe].

This could see the 21-year-old depart Villa Park in January to link up with Cristiano Ronaldo in a deal worth upwards of £58million.

Former Leicester City and Brentford manager believes a switch to Saudi Arabia could net Villa £60m while earning the striker £300k-per-week as his base salary.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Allen said: “It will depend if Duran wants to go.

If he finds out from his agent that a club in Saudi Arabia wants to sign him and he’ll get £300,000-a-week, there’s not many people that will turn that down.

A lot of players would have their head turned by that, so if he’s going into training and not training hard and he’s got a bad attitude, if he’s kicking off then Villa will be the first to show him the door.

I think £70m is a bit too much, I think £60m should be the absolute maximum but we don’t know what the relationship is with Duran at Villa right now.

Jhon Duran to earn mega wages in Saudi Arabia after Aston Villa exit

There is no doubt that the ex-Chicago Fire ace is one of the brightest striker prospects in the world right now so there is no surprise that there is widespread interest in his signature.

Regardless of this, it would come as a major blow if Duran were to leave this late in the winter window, especially for Saudi Arabia.

The only plus for the Villans is that they will net a large sum which can be pumped into other signings to improve their side for the second half of the season.

With less than a week remaining until the 3 February deadline, it will now be interesting to see if the Colombian makes the move or remains in B6 for the season.
