Aston Villa issue statement to supporters after Rangers precedent

Aston Villa have warned their fans about selling tickets to Celtic supporters after what happened between Rangers and Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Villans have issued a statement deterring fans from reselling tickets to away supporters ahead of their home Champions League match against Celtic on Wednesday (29 January).

As per The Express & Star [27 January], Villa released the statement to avoid a repeat of last week when a large number of Rangers fans were seen in the home areas at Old Trafford as the Red Devils won 2-1 in the Europa League.

Unai Emery will count on the 12th man to motivate his side as they look to secure a place in the top eight of the Champions League.

The Birmingham outfit are ninth as things stand and will want to go up a place to qualify for the knockout stage automatically.

After a strong start to the season, the Villans have struggled a bit in recent months, and the fatigue of playing in multiple competitions seems to be affecting the players.

Aston Villa have found some form and gone five games unbeaten in the Premier League, but the draw against West Ham United would have been disheartening.

The Lions looked in control of the fixture at Villa Park on Sunday (26 January), taking an early lead through Jacob Ramsey and creating opportunities to score more in the first half.

Graham Potter’s team came out strong after the break, and the Villans dropped two crucial points in the 1-1 draw.

Celtic are cruising in the Scottish Premiership, and Emery will certainly not take Brendan Rodgers’ team lightly as they travel to Birmingham.
