Simon Jordan will infuriate Aston Villa fans with what he said about Jhon Duran exit

Aston Villa supporters will be furious with what Simon Jordan said about a potential Jhon Duran exit.

The former Chicago Fire man is under contract at Villa Park until 2030 but is locked in a battle with Ollie Watkins to secure a starting spot.

Speaking on talkSPORT (22 January, 10:40 pm), the former Crystal Palace owner believes that the two can co-exist, saying: “Is it an underlying narrative because Aston Villa are not a big, big club, that they aren’t able to manage a player and someone is going to come along and take him.

“Other clubs, we used to see Klopp constantly rotating players and never hear any dissent.”

Jordan wrong with Aston Villa comments

The talkSPORT host is wrong with his comments on the status of the Villans, they are one of the biggest clubs in British football right now.

Unai Emery has his side in eighth place in the Premier League, just four points behind the top four and in the final automatic qualification spot for the Champions League round of 16.

The latter could change depending on results on Wednesday (22 January) but Villa are still in a great position to at least secure a place in the play-off to go through to the knockout stages.

Regardless of their performance this season, Villa are one of seven British sides to win the European Cup, with only Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool having won more than the Midlands club.

Even taking away Villa’s current revival and historical success, Duran is under a long-term contract and signed it despite interest in his services, suggesting that he is comfortable staying at the club and fighting it out with Watkins for a starting spot.

In other Aston Villa news, the club is set to offer Louie Barry a contract amid interest in the young star from Celtic.
