Marcus Rashford to ‘pave the way’ for new multi-million Aston Villa signing

Aston Villa could move closer to signing Donyell Malen if Marcus Rashford signs for Borussia Dortmund, says a former manager.

The England international has been linked with a move from Manchester United to the Bundesliga in recent weeks [Patrick Berger] despite no deal going through yet.

This interest has bubbled under the surface while the Villans have held talks over the Netherlands international [Florian Plettenberg] in two deals that Martin Allen believes could impact each other.

The former Leicester City and Brentford manager can see a move for Malen be finalised quicker at Villa Park if Rashford moves to Dortmund this winter.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Allen said: “I’m not sure what will happen with Marcus Rashford.

It’s obvious there has been a breakdown at Manchester United and that may call into question his attitude and desire.

Would he move to Dortmund? I’m not sure but it would pave the way, if it did happen, for Malen to go to Villa.

It would be good for Dortmund to get Rashford and good for Villa to get the player to allow them to improve what they’ve got this season.

Aston Villa in Marcus Rashford boost with Borussia Dortmund

The 25-year-old forward looks set to be on the way to B6 in January but could ultimately rely on a new forward going to the Westfalenstadion.

Rashford undoubtedly needs a move away from Old Trafford and a move to Dortmund could reignite his career and allow Malen to join the Villans.

The former PSV man could prove to be the versatile, powerful and pacey forward that Unai Emery needs moving into the second half of the campaign.
