Borussia Dortmund have Marcus Rashford on their radar after Donyell Malen agreed on a deal with Aston Villa, according to Patrick Berger.

The Sky Sports reporter revealed on X (7 January) that the German outfit are looking at the England international to replace their potentially outgoing forward.

Malen has reached an agreement with the Villans, and the Bundesliga club are preparing for his departure, with Rashford being eyed.

BVB have enquired about a possible loan deal, but a move in the winter transfer window seems unlikely for now due to the costs involved.

Marcus Rashford transfer twist involves Aston Villa

It looks like the German outfit is resigned to losing Malen in the coming days as they eye potential reinforcements in the likes of Rashford.

The Lions could be getting a versatile forward in Malen, capable of playing in any position up front.

Aston Villa already have two impressive number nines at their disposal, and it seems like the Netherlands international will most likely be deployed on the wings.

Jhon Duran made his place in the starting line-up his own before picking up a suspension as the Birmingham club lost to Newcastle at St James' Park.

Ollie Watkins is no slouch and has carried the Villans' attack over the last few years, but his recent form this season has been a bit underwhelming.

Leon Bailey has similarly failed to set the world alight at Villa in the current campaign, with Jaden Philogene on the chopping block in January [Fabrizio Romano, 7 January].

Morgan Rogers and John McGinn have been relied on to provide creativity from the wide positions in the last few matches.

Malen will certainly add much-needed dynamism the Lions have been missing in attack this term if they can get a deal over the line eventually.
