Diego Carlos exit: Aston Villa man ‘to pack bags immediately’ as new talks open

Diego Carlos could have just a number of days remaining as an Aston Villa player as the winter transfer window heats up.

Unai Emery’s side already look to be closing in on a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen, having reached a full agreement with the Bundesliga giants [Florian Plettenberg].

This could be just the first of multiple changes made to the current squad before 3 February, with the Villans now opening talks with Sevilla over a deal for Loic Bade [Fabrizio Romano].

While the 24-year-old has already endured a failed move to the Premier League, he has thrived since leaving Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2023.

Since departing The City Ground, he has become an important figure in Sevilla’s backline after travelling with the Spain Olympic squad to compete in this year’s games in Paris.

Loic Bade to replace Diego Carlos at Aston Villa?

However, this can only mean bad news for current Villa centre-back Carlos, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa Park this month.

While Fenerbahce’s bid to sign the Brazilian has not been accepted, as per Fabrizio Romano, a number of other clubs have now joined the race for his signature.

Given the central defender is often overlooked by Emery, especially now after Tyrone Ming’s return from injury, it could be the end of Carlos’ spell in England, suggesting he might need to start packing right away.

Villa’s defence has certainly not been as water-tight as last season, being heavily affected by injuries over the summer, and Emery might be about to address those issues with the signing of Bade.

With over half the transfer window still remaining, the Villans will be in no rush to make cut-throat decisions with their current players, but Carlos already seems to have one foot out the door.

His time at Villa Park has been somewhat of a rollercoaster journey, and with any theme park ride, it could be time for him to get off and go elsewhere.
