Randal Kolo Munai stance on Aston Villa transfer mooted as ‘concrete talks’ held

Aston Villa are one of several clubs interested in Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Munai.

Unai Emery will no doubt hope to get some players through the door this month, and Villa News understands that the club are already in talks to sign one forward player on loan.

Marco Asensio has also been linked with a move to the West Midlands [via CaughtOffside, 3 January], and it appears as though this isn’t the only Paris Saint-Germain player that the club are interested in.

As reported by L’Équipe (31 December), Emery’s side have entered the race for Kolo Munai, and according to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg via his personal X account (25 December), there’s a “strong chance” the 26-year-old will move to the Premier League.

Plettenberg went on to add that, “Concrete talks with potential teams about a loan deal are ongoing. PSG would like to include an obligation to buy.”

However, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – has speculated that Kolo Munai might favour a move elsewhere.

“I’m sure Villa will be looking if a player of that quality is available,” King said.

“It is always good to have the option to take a player on loan first. However, there are other clubs interested in him, and you start to look at where those clubs are situated and you think to yourself, ‘Would this player be happy in Birmingham?’

“All those kinds of things come into the equation. He will have to relocate, and if he isn’t happy about where he is living, he won’t be happy when he is playing.”

Aston Villa to miss out on Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Munai?

Several top clubs are interested in Kolo Munai. Therefore, it could be difficult for Villa to win the race for his signature this month.

As a result, while it is good to see the club linked with this calibre of player, a deal might not be possible. However, that doesn’t mean that the club won’t sign any new players for Emery in January.

As reported by Ben Jacobs (2 January), the club are optimistic of agreeing a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen, and fans will hope that isn’t the last of the potential signings.
