Ipswich Town want to sign £18m Aston Villa ace – Dharmesh Sheth

Ipswich want to sign £18million Aston Villa ace Jaden Philogene, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports reporter claimed that the newly-promoted side was interested in his situation in a post on X on 2 January.

He confirmed that the Tractor Boys had an offer accepted by Hull City for the 22-year-old in the summer before the Villans swooped in and secured his signature for a fee of £18m.

The England Under-21s international has started just four matches in all competitions for Unai Emery’s side so far this season.

Jaden Philogene could leave Aston Villa in January transfer window

The player’s agent Ivo Camacho confirmed interest in a loan deal to Fenerbahce [Sabah Spor] with the Villa star keen to play first-team football this campaign.

He is not going to get that at Villa Park as he has struggled for game time behind the likes of Morgan Rogers and Leon Bailey in the pecking order, so it would not be a surprise to see him leave.

However, whether Villa would sanction a permanent move remains to be seen and it would be a surprise given that they paid a decent fee to bring him back to the club just last summer.

Ipswich may test their resolve as they seek to somehow avoid relegation from the top flight but there is no guarantee that Emery allows the player to leave permanently.

The relegation-threatened team may be better off asking for Philogene on loan. It is likely that Villa would allow that given he will get minutes in the Premier League.

That would be the best move if the Villans want to keep the player as his development will be best served playing regularly in the top flight.
